VIKING strengthens its presence in Norway with a new boat factory

With a team of 175 employees in Arendal and more than 320 at other locations, the company is consolidating its position in the market.

VIKING Life-Saving Equipment Company announces the opening of a state-of-the-art boat factory in Arendal, Norway. The 3,400 square meter facility is designed for the production of high-end free-fall boats and specialized boats for the defense sector.

The company has consolidated its presence with factories in China, Greece and Norway. Following the new investment, it strengthens its capacity to serve the commercial navigation and defence segments, expanding its portfolio of rescue vessels and safety equipment.

“Our new facilities allow us to push forward our innovation agenda and further expand our product portfolio. From a strategic location on land, we will have all the capabilities we need to develop and design the ships, as well as to thoroughly test them at sea.”

One of the highlights of the new plant is the focus on energy efficiency. Through the use of geothermal wells , energy consumption is expected to be reduced by up to 70% compared to the previous facility.

Since its founding in 1960, VIKING has been a leader in maritime safety, supplying rescue vessels and protective equipment to commercial vessels, offshore platforms and navies around the world.
