Versa Integrity Group, Inc. is a leading provider of industrial services, which offers inspection services, advanced Non-Destructive Testing, asset integrity, heat treatment, rope access, among others.
Among the services it provides, are the performance of Penetrating Liquid Tests (PT) . Liquid penetrant testing is used to locate surface defects and variations in pipe and weld surfaces. The Versa team is trained to test liquid penetrants in all industries to determine the relevance of surface defects.
The Visible Penetrant inspection method is a non-destructive test to expose open defects to the surface of the material and can be used on aluminum, magnesium, brass, copper, cast iron, steel, stainless steel, carbides and star-shaped, as well as on certain plastics and ceramics. The process includes penetration of the defect by means of the penetrant colorant, removal of excess penetrant from the surface, and development of the indication for inspection. A dark red indication will mark the defect.
Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) is a type of liquid penetrant inspection in which a fluorescent dye is applied to the surface of a non-porous material to detect defects that may compromise the integrity or quality of the part in question. Due to its sensitivity to such small defects, FPI is ideal for most metals that tend to have small, tight pores and smooth surfaces. Defects can vary, but are usually small cracks caused by the processes used to shape the metal. It is not unusual for a part to be inspected multiple times before it is complete (an inspection often follows each significant forming operation).
