According to official figures from the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES), as of 2022, there are 855,731 engineering graduates in Mexico.
Of this figure, 463,352 are women, while 392,363 are men. Of the total number of graduates, 7,170 are people with disabilities and 8,170 are speakers of indigenous languages.
It is worth mentioning that these figures include not only undergraduate, but also postgraduate (master’s and doctorate) and technical levels.
These data include both private and public universities in all Mexican states. It also includes federal, polytechnic and technological universities, research centers and engineering faculties.
The engineering careers contemplated are:
Computer science
Construction and civil engineering
Hardware development
Software development
Electricity
Electronics and automation
Food industry
Mining, quarrying and metallurgy industry
Textile, footwear and leather industry
Industry of diverse materials (ceramics, wood, etc.)
Computing
Chemical process engineering
Industrial engineering
Mechanics and related metalworking professions
Technology support and maintenance services
Technology for environmental protection
Telecommunications
Motorized vehicles, boats and aircraft
There are currently 4,983,204 young engineering students enrolled in Mexico.
