Uber Technologies and the company’s autonomous driving company WeRide have taken a firm step forward in their joint strategy to transform urban transportation. Both companies have confirmed the addition of 15 new cities to their collaboration, expanding the range of their robotaxi service, which will be available through the Uber app. This growth phase will be rolled out over the next five years.
Strategic investment for the robotaxi service
As part of the agreement, Uber will invest $100 million to accelerate the integration of WeRide’s robotaxis in key cities, particularly in Europe and the Middle East. With this investment, Uber is seeking to strengthen its position as a benchmark logistics operator in autonomous mobility, while WeRide consolidates its role as a provider of driverless driving technology.
Under this cooperation model, WeRide will be responsible for the development and supply of the autonomous vehicleswhile Uber will be responsible for managing the operation of the urban fleets.. This scheme allows for rapid scaling in regions where both companies have identified growing demand for driverless transportation solutions.
From Emirates to Europe
After its first steps in Abu Dhabi and the upcoming deployment in Dubai, the alliance will be extended to several additional cities over the next five years. This strategy seeks to strengthen the international presence of both companies, with an emphasis on markets with regulatory frameworks open to technological innovation.

The project pursues a common goal: to make autonomous transportation more accessible, cost-effective and sustainable. Infrastructure sharing, platform integration and economies of scale will enable Uber and WeRide to reduce costs and facilitate mass access to automated mobility in urban contexts.
