Today we celebrate World Teachers’ Day

Today, October 5, World Teachers’ Day is celebrated, the date on which UNESCO and the International Labor Organization (ILO) decided to pay tribute to one of the most valuable professionals in any society: teachers, people who have a duty to train future generations, thus guaranteeing the development of countries.

The choice of this date is due to the fact that on that same day, but in the year 1966, a Special Intergovernmental Conference on the Status of Teachers was commemorated, to discuss the duties, but above all the rights of the teaching union worldwide.

Among the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, education plays a fundamental role and therefore it is projected that, in the future, a greater number of professionals in this discipline will be needed.

This year, under the slogan: “The transformation of education begins with teachers”, the celebration will address issues such as the guarantee of labor rights and access to professional development opportunities.
