The Portuguese company Faro Electric Boats has devised the Faro Powerdock, an innovative towable and autonomous dock with a floating solar panel on top to charge small electric boats. In addition, it has the ability to raise them to facilitate their maintenance.

This intelligent solution seeks to avoid problems with access to electricity at the docks. The Powerdock Lighthouse is completely independent from conventional electrical networks and is recharged by solar energy from 8 to 17 hours, allowing in turn to charge the batteries of electric boats without the need to connect to a traditional network.

Taking the 6 KW Faro5 developed by themselves as an example, this example can charge its batteries in less than 3 hours. Although its launch is scheduled for 2025 and currently works with the aforementioned Faro5, the company ensures that it will adapt to other hybrid and electric boats up to 12 meters in length.

This innovative creation is presented as a completely innovative and unprecedented “Solar Docking Station”. It can be adapted to any single mooring on conventional docks or marinas, but also gives you the ability to take it anywhere and create your own “private dock” as it is able to float.

The Faro Powerdock offers different internal battery capacity options, ranging from 10.2 kWh to 30.6 kWh, depending on the choice of solution. In addition to the 16 solar panels included as standard, it offers the possibility of adding more and optionally, wind turbines to speed up the recharging process.

As well as providing shade for the boat, the Powerdock Lighthouse has been designed to raise them up for easier maintenance, as well as protect the hull, propeller and other components from marine growth.

Its dimensions are 6.10 meters long, 4.06 meters wide and a maximum height of 2.74 meters. Prices range between €135,000 and €170,000; this last figure being the value corresponding to the model with the greatest capacity.
