The Spanish company X1 Wind has completed the tests of its innovative X30 pyramidal wind turbine that promises to revolutionize the generation of electricity from the wind.
This X30 floating wind turbine is part of the PivotBuoy project, which aims to make the most of the wind, while being more affordable and easier to install. It works like a buoy and can adapt to the direction of the wind, which allows it to generate power practically 24 hours a day .
In addition, it has various advantages that make it stand out in the wind market. After its successful trial in the Canary Islands, a larger-scale trial is planned in France in 2025, three times larger.
How does the X30 pyramidal turbine work?
This innovative pyramid-shaped wind turbine has a modular design that allows it to be built in different sizes. The X30 prototype in the Canary Islands is a 1:3 scale version of the X90 commercial model, which has a generating capacity of more than 15 Megawatts.
Another outstanding advantage of this turbine is its ease of transportation, since being a buoy, it can be dragged with small boats to its deployment location. This reduces costs and simplifies installation.
Likewise, its fastening system to the seabed with a single grip point instead of several as in conventional turbines, makes its design more ecological . Another important aspect is that the turbine can operate in depths ranging between 60 and 500 meters.
It should be noted that its floating structure allows it to be oriented according to the wind to always obtain the maximum production and it can be changed from place when desired, in a simple way, simply by anchoring and unanchoring it.
The Spanish pyramidal wind turbine from the company X1 Wind can give a lot to talk about in the coming years. The business model is already under construction.
