On November 16, 2024, SANY Renewable Energy made a mark in the energy industry by commissioning its SI-270150 onshore wind turbine , the world’s largest and most powerful . This innovative system, with a capacity of 15 MW and a rotor diameter of 270 meters and blades of 131 meters, redefines the standards of sustainable electricity generation.
On October 8, 2024, SANY Renewable Energy completed the installation of this onshore wind turbine in Tongyu, Jilin, China.
Designed to operate in medium to high wind conditions, the SI-270150 turbine can generate up to 56 million kWh annually – enough to meet the energy needs of thousands of homes. And with a lifespan of 25 to 30 years, it promises to make a significant contribution to the transition to clean energy.
Testing and validation of the world’s largest onshore wind turbine
The turbine is currently undergoing operational testing in an experimental wind farm , where nearly 2,000 performance evaluations will be carried out. In parallel, a prototype will undergo accelerated ageing tests on a specialised test bench, simulating 30 years of operation in just 18 months. This approach ensures maximum reliability and durability of the components.
SANY Renewable Energy leads in technological innovation and reinforces the role of renewable energy in the fight against climate change. With its SI-270150 turbine , the company demonstrates its commitment to sustainable and high-impact global energy solutions.
