Samson Sky has announced that the Switchblade flying car has officially entered production . The vehicle, which promises to revolutionize personal air mobility , has undergone an aerodynamic redesign that significantly improves its performance. This development follows successful flight tests last fall and marks a major step toward mass production.
What is known about the Switchblade flying car
The Switchblade, known for its unique folding wing design, now features a wing area increased by 147%, from 67 to 99 square feet . This optimization increases stability and efficiency during flight and also ensures safer takeoff and landing. Additionally, new wing attachment solutions allow for a firm wing structure without the need for complex electrical systems.
The development of this aerial vehicle has been made possible through years of research and testing with thermoplastic carbon fiber materials. These innovations allow Samson Sky to offer a builder support program that simplifies the assembly process, making it easy for users to create their own Switchblade in as little as one week.
Michael Maxwell, the new R&D director, leads the implementation of automated technologies on the production floor, ensuring efficiency and accuracy at every stage.
Preparing for flight tests
With the goal of having the flying vehicle ready for testing in the spring , the Samson Sky team has implemented an organized and detailed approach using project management tools such as Microsoft Project. Additionally, additional mechanical engineers have been hired to ensure that all aspects of the design, including maintainability and compliance with FAA regulations, are carefully managed.
Specialized consultants, such as Patrick Johnson, are also contributing to the project by developing advanced hybrid propulsion systems. These joint efforts ensure that the Switchblade is not only an innovative flying car, but also sets a new standard in personal air vehicle technology. Check out the new design of this flying car.
