The shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) applicable to shipments from Asia to the West Coast of Latin America, including Chile, but excluding Japan.

It is important to note that in this context, countries such as China, Macau, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos and Brunei are considered the Asian region.

On the other hand, the West Coast region of Latin America covers destinations such as Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala and Panama.

The increase applies to shipments in 20- and 40-foot dry containers, including High Cube equipment and 40-foot refrigerated containers that are not operational. This General Rate Increase (GRI) will be valid as of October 16, 2023 and will remain in effect until further notice.

The details of this adjustment are an increase of USD 250 for 20-foot dry containers and USD 500 for non-operational 40-foot containers, 40-foot High Cube, and 40-foot refrigerated containers.
