The Japanese company has strengthened its heavy equipment, after electrifying and presenting the first Tadano electric crane, focused and intended for difficult terrains as well as complex jobs in the North American market: the Tadano EVOLT eGR-1000XLL-1 .
Tadano’s first electric crane
This crane has a lifting capacity of up to 100 tons , and was recently demonstrated at Tadano’s plant in Shido, Japan, in the midst of its final tests, before being commercially available in North America.
The crane’s electric motor ensures reduced noise , making it an ideal choice for work in residential areas and near hospitals. It has also been compared to its diesel counterpart, with the only notable difference being its much quieter operation. In addition, the EVOLT produces no emissions, aligning with Tadano’s global decarbonisation goals.
The crane is equipped with six lithium-ion batteries that provide a capacity of 226 kWh. This energy allows it to operate for five hours in lifting and moving activities, or up to seven hours if it is only used for lifting loads. The battery can be recharged in approximately two hours using a fast charging system.
On the other hand, the EVOLT will have a higher initial cost than a diesel crane, but Tadano says the operational savings will offset this increase. Operating costs are estimated to be reduced by 35% thanks to electrical efficiency and lower maintenance requirements. In addition, the reduction in carbon emissions is considerable, eliminating up to 49,000 pounds of CO₂ per year.

This new crane is part of Tadano’s plan to offer more electric and hybrid equipment to contribute to environmental sustainability. With decarbonisation goals for 2030 and 2050, Tadano continues to innovate in green solutions that improve the efficiency of its products and reduce their environmental impact.
