SpinLaunch has solidified its space strategy, announcing a $12 million investment from Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace to support the development of Meridian Space , a constellation of LEO satellites designed to deliver global broadband.
An alliance that will boost LEO satellite constellations
With 250 high-performance microsatellites per launch, Meridian Space introduces an orbital architecture based on repetitive ground trajectories, simplifying user infrastructure and reducing the need for complex antennas.
Furthermore, the collaboration with its subsidiary NanoAvionics includes the initial construction of 280 satellites, laying the groundwork for a phased deployment projected to reach 1,190 units. With this, the company seeks to establish a high-capacity satellite network with reduced operating costs.
The Meridian constellation is supported by differentiating technologies such as the reflectarray antenna, which minimizes the volume of each satellite and optimizes data delivery. NanoAvionics contributes its expertise in modular and standardized satellites . This synergy allows for accelerated deployment and adaptation of the constellation to diverse commercial and defense needs, while maintaining a flexible and reliable space infrastructure.
The company strengthens its orbital mobility vision by signing a lease agreement with The Aleut Corporation to establish a launch site in Adak, Alaska. This strategic location will allow it to leverage geographic advantages and increase launch frequency using its suborbital acceleration system.
SpinLaunch’s model integrates this innovative satellite insertion method with scheduled launches, paving the way for more accessible space infrastructure. With the in-orbit demonstrator planned for 2026, the company seeks to demonstrate the commercial viability of its proposal in the competitive space telecommunications environment.
The Meridian project redefines the paradigm of space connectivity. Through a carefully designed technical architecture, an efficient production model, and strategic partnerships, SpinLaunch is positioning itself as a key player in the evolution of global satellite networks .
