South Korea and Uruguay have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation on energy in the face of the growing importance of the sector due to the threat of climate change and the Russo-Ukrainian war.
During a meeting in Seoul held this week, the South Korean Vice Minister of Industry, Commerce and Energy, Park Il Joon, and the Uruguayan Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Omar Paganini, discussed hydrogen and renewable energies, while agreeing on the creation of a hydrogen supply network, combining Uruguay’s abundant reserves of this resource with Korea’s advanced technology in terms of hydrogen-based mobility.
Likewise, they will expand cooperation to increase the export of electric vehicles, as well as to assist in other types of renewable energy such as solar or wind.
According to the South Korean vice minister, thanks to strong cooperation and active exchange, both countries will be able to achieve carbon neutrality, while boosting energy security and growth engines by promoting new industries.
