During the SLOM 2024 eventheld in Punta del Este, Uruguay, the Colombian company Serport, which specializes in commercial diving and subsea maintenance services for oil infrastructures, highlighted its continued expansion in Latin America and roles in the oil industry. The company’s Project Manager, James Durante, provided details on the company’s progress and projections during an interview for Inspenet.

Serport’s legacy and its expansion in Latin America

With more than 25 years of experience, Serport has been a strategic partner of the Ecopetrol Group. Ecopetrol Group in Colombia, providing specialized services in diving and ship supply. On the other hand, Durante mentioned that the company has expanded its regional reach, with the opening of an office in Uruguay and the incorporation of the first supply vessel, with Uruguayan flag. In addition, Serport has a presence in Guyana and is actively participating in projects in Argentina.

Our participation in events such as SLOM has been instrumental in the development of significant projects. We recently completed the replacement of a monobuoy in Colombia, a project developed three years ago in a similar environment, and we are now here to explore new opportunities and partnerships throughout the region.

Durante added.

Today, the company has more than 280 employees throughout Latin America, with a high level of human talent, which has been crucial in achieving its main objectives. According to Durante, this focus on human capital is what has allowed them to differentiate themselves from the competition and establish a solid reputation in the maritime sector.

Among the projections of the future, Serport plans to expand its fleet of specialized vessels and continue to explore opportunities in emerging markets, such as Guyana, where they foresee growth in the coming years. “Being present in these markets before they take off is crucial to capitalize on the opportunities ahead,” highlighted Durante.
