New direct maritime route Dalian-Mexico inaugurated in China

The vessel OOCL Chennai sailed from the Dalian Container Terminal, marking the start of a new sea route between northeast China and Latin America. This direct route, operated by China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, will connect Dalian with important Mexican ports such as Ensenada, Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas, offering weekly service and reducing travel time compared to traditional routes by up to 10 days.

New sea route for trade between China and Latin America

The new Dalian-Mexico sea route will become a key logistics channel for trade between the two regions. It is expected to transport a wide range of products, from processed grains, chemicals and minerals to automotive parts and high value-added machinery.

China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited will deploy eight container vessels with capacities ranging from 6,000 to 8,000 TEU to meet demand on this new route. These vessels will offer weekly direct services to the Mexican ports mentioned above.

“This new direct shipping route will effectively meet the transportation needs of enterprises in northeast China wishing to enter emerging markets in Latin America,” said Li Xiaoguang, general manager of Dalian Container Terminal Co., Ltd. “We are confident that this route will further strengthen trade relations between China and Mexico and promote the economic development of both regions.”

Dalian Port: A major maritime trade center

Dalian Port, located in northeast China, is one of the most important ports in the country. It currently manages close to 100 international container shipping routes, connecting with countries and regions around the world, including Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, the Mediterranean and the Americas.
