Sources close to the NEOM Project, announced in 2017 by the Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, revealed that the initiative includes the construction of the largest buildings in the world.

As they explained, the twin skyscrapers will be about 500 meters high, but will extend in width for tens of kilometers, from the Red Sea coast to the desert. In these gigantic buildings there will be residential spaces, offices and shops.

The same sources, who asked not to be named, affirmed that the initiative marks a change in the concept announced last year, which envisioned building a series of buildings linked by a hyperspeed underground train, in an extensive continuous structure.

These buildings, according to the executive director of NEOM, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, will have “different heights” and their final size will be determined based on engineering specifications and the variable characteristics of the terrain.

For their part, current and former employees of NEOM, which is advancing in the Tabuk province and will require an investment of 500,000 million dollars, revealed that the designers were instructed to work on a prototype about 800 meters long, adding that, if the project goes ahead, each structure will be larger than the largest existing buildings in the world.

Other sources assured that ‘The Line’, as the urban section of NEOM is called, will be built in phases based on demand.
