Basque observation mission with LUR-1 satellite begins

The main objective of LUR-1 is to collect high-definition images of the Earth, with a particular focus on the geography of the Basque Country. These data will be crucial for pest analysis, river management and crop optimization, among other applications.

After a first failed communication attempt, AVS succeeded in establishing contact with the satellite on a second attempt, marking the beginning of a mission that is expected to have a useful life of five years. The LUR-1 also incorporates the MICE devicedevice, developed in collaboration with GMV for the European Space Agency, to ensure its safe disposal at the end of its useful life, according to a Basque portal

The importance of this achievement has not gone unnoticed. Basque authorities such as the lehendakari Imanol Pradales and the Government Delegate in the Basque Country, Marisol Garmendia, have highlighted the impact of this project, which adds to the growth of the space sector. space sector in the region.
