On October 8, 2024, SANY Renewable Energy successfully completed the installation of its 15 MW SI-270150 onshore wind turbine in Tongyu, Jilin Province, China. This turbine is the largest in installed capacity and has the largest rotor diameter in the world for an onshore model, with a service life of 25 to 30 years and a blade length of 131 meters.

The 270-meter rotor and its “ swept area ” of more than 57,000 m² allow it to generate enough electricity to power 160,000 homes a year. The SI-270150’s design includes intelligent load reduction technologies and a dual TRB axle support system, which improves load capacity and stability, making it easier to transport on land.
The turbine has been manufactured using advanced processes at the Bayannur Smart Industrial Park , where its 131-metre blades were produced. The blade design features improvements in stiffness and strength, resulting from an optimised airfoil design, which prevents vibration problems and improves durability.

In addition, the turbine is equipped with manufacturing innovations such as glass fiber pre-padding technology , which optimizes the production process, improving efficiency and sustainability through the use of recyclable polyurethane structural parts. The prototype will undergo testing for more than a year to ensure its reliability under real operating conditions.
