Saipem , in partnership with KOA Oil & Gas and AVEON Offshore , has been selected by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) to execute the Bonga North Project , a major deepwater oilfield development 130 kilometres off the Nigerian coast.
Saipem’s multi-million dollar contract with Shell project
This project has a contract value of 1 billion dollars, and establishes Saipem as a leader in the interconnection of wells to the existing FPSO unit in the area. This contract includes comprehensive engineering , procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services for risers , flowlines, subsea umbilicals and associated structures.
This type of infrastructure is important to balance the efficient transfer of oil and gas from the seabed to processing platforms. Executing these activities in deep waters is one of the technical challenges that the company will face with its vast experience and specialized fleet.
A key value of the project is the strong local involvement, with design and manufacturing activities to be carried out in Nigeria. This ensures compliance with local regulations, while fostering collaboration with Nigerian suppliers and subcontractors.
With this contract, Saipem secures the occupancy of its offshore construction fleet until 2027, consolidating its position in the West African market. The company has been operating in Nigeria since the late 1960s, and remains a major partner for strategic projects in the region, contributing to sustainable energy development and supporting the transition to a low-emission economy.
