RES has submitted a planning application to Torridge District Council for the implementation of an energy storage system in Pyworthy County, England.

The project will focus on increasing installed energy storage capacity to enable and accelerate the deployment of carbon-free energy, in line with England’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The renewable energy technologies due to their intermittent nature, require the support of energy storage technologies, which play a fundamental role in the balance and stability of the power grid.

In addition, the proposed RES has been designed to enhance the biodiversity of the site. This will be achieved by planting native hedgerows, creating grasslands and implementing wildflower areas.

June 2024, RES formalized the planning application for the Stoneworthy energy storage project. This project will be located on land south of the Pyworthy substation, approximately 1.3 km southwest of the nearest province. The location has been strategically selected to maximize efficiency and minimize impact on the local community.
