Q ENERGY has begun construction of the Cahuzac-sur-Adour photovoltaic solar park in the Gers region of France. This 8.5 MWp solar installation will supply clean energy to nearly 4,900 homes and reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 2,600 tons annually. The project is a firm commitment to the energy transition and sustainability in the south of France.
Transformation of an industrial site into a solar park
The land that houses this solar park was used between 1993 and 2019 to crush and process materials, but is now beginning its new phase as a generator of renewable energy . The conversion of this space into a sustainable energy production center responds to the need for clean energy and promotes a commitment to biodiversity.
The project includes ecological measures such as the installation of amphibian barriers and the adjustment of fences to allow passage of small animals. In addition, areas of the land will be planted and an embankment will be remodeled to encourage the reintroduction of the endangered bee-eater. Vegetation management will be respectful of local wildlife, ensuring a friendly environment for reptiles, amphibians, and other insects.
A project in collaboration with local authorities
This green energy project is the result of close collaboration with local authorities and representatives. Q ENERGY’s Regional Solar Energy Director, Véronique Sauzay, emphasized their pride in contributing to the Occitanie region’s efforts to become energy-positive by 2050.
With this initiative, Q ENERGY reinforces its commitment to the environment and sustainability , demonstrating that renewable energy production can go hand in hand with the preservation of biodiversity and respect for ecosystems.
