Barton Gold Holdings Limited has commenced a RC drilling program to expand the resources of the Tunkillia Gold Project , located in South Australia. This effort is focused on optimizing and growing the mineral resource model, with the goal of extending the life of the project and improving overall economics.

Tunkillia advances with RC drilling

Since the March 2024 update, which raised the JORC resource to 1.5 Moz Au, and the July Preliminary Study which highlighted an annual production of 130 kozpa, Tunkillia has demonstrated significant potential. This new drilling program targets parallel areas and at depth that were previously excluded by data limitations.

Barton CEO Alexander Scanlon explained that these operations are aimed at expanding the resource block model and reducing processing costs and strengthening the profitability of the project. With an internal rate of return of 40% and a payback period of 1.9 years , Tunkillia is emerging as a competitive large-scale mine.

The Barton team is reviewing options to optimize key costs, from pit design to processing methods. The ultimate goal is to add new tonnes of efficient bulk mineralization and ensure the sustainability of the project.
