OceanX, the largest single-capacity floating wind platform in the world successfully reached the Qingzhou IV offshore wind farm in Yangjiang, Guangdong, after an impressive voyage of more than 191 nautical miles and 50 hours of sailing. This project was developed by Mingyang Smart Energy and is quite significant in the development of renewable energy globally.

The voyage of OceanX began in Guangzhou and required overcoming a number of technical and logistical challenges, such as navigating the complex waterways of the Pearl River Delta and adjusting its massive paddles to ensure safe passage.

During its journey, the wind platform passed iconic points such as the Shenzhen-Zhongshan link and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, underscoring its relevance as an engineering marvel and as a symbol of China’s commitment to a sustainable energy future.

OceanX technical features

OceanX impresses with its size as well as its technical specifications. With a total draft of 5.5 meters and a weight of approximately 12,000 tons, the platform has been precision engineered to ensure stability and safety in adverse sea conditions. During its voyage, meticulous adjustments were made to the turbine blades to minimize the airfoil and ensure safe passage through the channels.
