In Texas, Jindal Tubular USA, LLC has signed an agreement with Jones Power and Rockport Terminals to construct 137 miles of pipeline for a natural gas project and also provide logistics services. This project will transport natural gas from Agua Dulce to the LNG export terminal in Brownsville, Texas.
Natural gas pipeline for a natural gas project: its logistics
Jones Power and Rockport Terminals, energy infrastructure companies owned by Jones Capital, will be responsible for the integrated logistics required for this project. Designed to move up to 4.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas natural gas per day, the pipeline will span approximately 137 miles with 48-inch and 42-inch diameter pipelines. These pipelines will connect a new compressor station in Kleberg County to the export facility in Brownsville.
On the other hand, the pipe will be manufactured by Jindal in Bay St. Louis. It is then transported by barge to Rockport Terminals on the Texas Gulf Coast. Jones Power will assume responsibility for bringing the pipelines from Rockport to the construction site. Fabrication is expected to start in the summer and the pipes will be shipped in time for the start of operations in the fall.
Pipeline promises to boost local and global economy
Jindal Tubular president Vikas Chandra expressed his enthusiasm for this project, noting that it is the first major 48-inch pipeline Jindal is executing in the United States, a crucial market due to the country’s increasing LNG exports. Chandra also highlighted the importance of the collaboration with Jones Power and Rockport Terminals, who provide integrated solutions essential to the success of the project.
For his part, John Clark, chief executive officer of Jones Power emphasized the relevance of these large-diameter pipeline projects to increase U.S. LNG export capacity. He also expressed his pride in contributing to global energy reliability, affordability and sustainability. Clark also mentioned that few companies have the proven ability to handle the unique challenges of large, heavy pipeline projects, and Jones Power is one of them.
The implementation of this pipeline will also generate significant economic and labor benefits in the regions involved. It is estimated that the project will create hundreds of jobs during the construction phase, boosting the local economy and providing professional development opportunities for residents.
