TrinaTracker, which specializes in smart solutions, has successfully connected to the grid a 120 MW photovoltaic plant in Dunhuang, in the Gansu province of northern China.

The project was developed and constructed by Longyuan (Dunhuang) New Energy Development and executed by POWERCHINA Ningxia Engineering It is based entirely on solar trackers provided by TrinaTracker, located in the Andun Basin in the Gobi Desert, a region known for its intense solar radiation.

New energy opportunities for the large Asian country

The power plant’s electrical reach, which extendsover almost 2.4 km2, will generate 290 GWh of electricity per year, bringing great benefits to the region from an economic, environmental, social and productive point of view.

Importantly, the project uses TrinaTracker’ s Vanguard 2P products , which have a structural configuration that significantly reduces BOS costs. The Vanguard 2P has been their featured product since its launch in 2021.

Advances in research and continuous development of modules and trackers ensure optimal installation of ultra-high power modules of more than 700 W to maximize power generation efficiency in the new power plant.

Improvements and energy efficiency in photovoltaic plant

Execution of the project began in October and was completed in December 2023, connecting to the grid in January 2024. Chen Yujia, project engineer at Trina Solar, highlighted TrinaTracker’s implementation of a full life-cycle quality management system, as well as the speed and efficiency of its team.

Finally, Wang Jianfeng, project leader of Longyuan (Dunhuang) New Energy Development Co Ltd, praised the high power gain and reliability of TrinaTracker’s Vanguard 2P trackers, and expressed his desire to work with TrinaTracker again.
