Brazilian state-owned oil company Petrobras has confirmed a significant discovery in the Santos Basin , having identified hydrocarbons in the Aram block. This area, located 245 km from the city of Santos, has been of particular interest to the company, which remains a key player in pre-salt exploration.
Well 4-BRSA-1395-SPS, currently being drilled, has revealed the presence of oil and gas using advanced techniques such as electrical profiling and fluid sample analysis.

Hydrocarbons in the Aram block boost pre-salt exploration
The Aram block, acquired by Petrobras in the sixth bidding round in 2020, has established itself as one of the most promising assets for pre-salt exploration. The company holds an 80% stake, while the remaining 20% is held by Chinese state-owned CNPC . Future exploration will allow for an assessment of the full potential of this area, crucial for energy production in Brazil .
The drilling consortium will continue its work until reaching the planned depth, which will allow for a full assessment of reservoir conditions. This progress is a testament to the growing potential of the Santos Basin , which remains one of the most strategic regions for the Brazilian oil industry.
