Thermonator, the innovative flame-throwing robot dog , has caused a stir by being offered on the market for less than $10,000 . This device can operate autonomously or controlled and is capable of emitting flames up to 9 meters away , keeping this function active for 45 continuous minutes.

Robot dogs have been progressively integrated into urban security forces in various parts of the world, being used both in Malaga, Spain, and in New York, United States, by their respective police units. In this context, the company Throwflame has developed the Thermonator, a model that adds pyrotechnic capabilities to the traditional functions of these robots.

The usefulness of the Thermonator flamethrower robot dog

Throwflame, a company specialized in devices that generate fire, showed in a YouTube video how this quadruped robot can be useful for tasks such as preventing forest fires, ecological conservation and removing weeds, snow or ice. According to its website, this robot dog is equipped with the ARC flamethrower, designed to operate effectively in various environments.

From a technical point of view, the Thermonator It is not designed for military applications, but for maintenance and security tasks. This quadruped robot has a flamethrower integrated into its structure that can be operated both manually through a remote control and autonomously through integrated sensors.

What is the price of the Thermonator robot dog?

Among its specifications, the Thermonator weighs 16 kg, can throw flames up to a distance of nine meters and is equipped with LiDAR technology for mapping, FPV (first person view) navigation, instant arc ignition, obstacle avoidance systems, laser aiming and uses the advanced ARC flamethrower which offers improved operational flexibility and longer battery life.

Regarding its marketing, Throwflame has put the Thermonator on sale for $9,420, just over 8,000 euros at the current exchange rate and for now, its sale is restricted to the United States market.

As robotic technology advances, the integration of capabilities like those of the Thermonator raises ethical and safety questions about the use of robots in public and private functions. It is crucial to establish clear regulations that ensure these devices are used safely and ethically, especially when they involve potentially dangerous elements such as fire.
