Canadian oil company Parex Resources announced the discovery of three new oil fields in the Colombian departments of Arauca and Casanare.
The first discovery took place in a well drilled in the Capachos block, located in the municipality of Tame, in Arauca. Now, the works are completed to be able to inject oil through the pipelines in the fourth quarter of this year.
The second discovery occurred in the Cabrestero block, located in the municipality of Villanueva, in Casanare. In this well, 1,800 barrels of heavy oil are extracted per day. The third finding also occurred in the department of Casanare, specifically in the municipality of Paz de Ariporo, in a new area of the LLA-40 block.
Parex Resources produces 55,000 barrels of oil a day. By 2022, production is expected to average 52,000-53,000 barrels of oil per day, with the output rate for the year exceeding 60,000 barrels of oil per day.
