Licencias de producción para OMV

The Norwegian Ministry of Energy has awarded OMV (Norge) AS four production licences on the Norwegian continental shelf, consolidating its position in the natural gas exploration sector. These concessions are part of the Predefined Area Awards (APA) 2024, an annual process that selects the most mature areas for exploration in the country.

Details of the production licenses granted

The licenses awarded to OMV include blocks PL 1276, PL 1274, PL 1194 C and PL 1272 , all located in the Norwegian Sea. Of these, three have exploitation permits that will allow OMV to move forward with development and production activities in the region.

Jone Hess, Managing Director of OMV (Norge) AS, said that these results reflect exceptional teamwork.

I am pleased with the awards as we have been offered the licences we applied for, in an area we believe in, following the success of our Haydn gas discovery. This result reflects high-quality teamwork and is in line with our strategy to increase the share of gas in our portfolio.

Hess said.

The APA 2024 programme seeks to maximise the use of Norway’s energy resources by awarding licences in mature areas of the continental shelf. In total, 53 production licences were awarded to 20 companies, with 33 in the North Sea, 19 in the Norwegian Sea and one in the Barents Sea. OMV stands out for its focus on gas fields , a strategy that aligns with global energy transition priorities.

Outlook for MVNOs

Since its establishment in Norway in 2006, OMV (Norge) has expanded its portfolio to include numerous projects in development and production. Today, the company employs more than 120 employees and contractors at its headquarters in Stavanger, joining forces to maintain its leading position in offshore exploration.

With these new licenses, OMV is better positioned to explore the gas potential in the Norwegian Sea region, thus contributing to European energy security and the development of sustainable solutions for the future.
