The geographer and expert in the oil sector Guillermo Tamburini, has processed satellite images that show an oil spill coming from another platform in the area, which suggests that it began around July 4.

Despite the fact that the spill has a considerable extension, reaching approximately 400 km 2 until July 12 (more than double the area of ​​the city of Guadalajara), the authorities have not provided any information on the causes and consequences of the incident. .

Tamburini noted that the dark spot represents the spill that is still ongoing . “It is common to use this technology to detect them. We estimate that to date, the oil spill has exceeded 1000 m 3 “, he stated.

However, he clarified that this estimate is not accurate and further investigation is needed.

In a statement it is expressed that the lack of transparency in the management of this spill is worrying, since it could be an indication of other similar incidents that go unnoticed and do not receive due attention.

For its part, a review carried out in the same area in June revealed another spill with an approximate extension of 270 km 2 .
