Dominion Energy Offshore Wind Farm has secured final 2.6 GW air quality permit for its Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Likewise, offshore work will begin and the installation of monopiles at the project location off the coast of Virginia Beach is scheduled to begin in May.
The offshore wind farm confirms its installation
DEME, a Belgian firm specializing in maritime construction, Orion, would set sail for the United States to proceed with the installation of the foundations of the CVOW project, and on the same day Dominion Energy confirmed that the assembly of the monopile would begin in May.
On the other hand, in a press release dated April 15, Dominion Energy also announced that CVOW had obtained its eleventh and final federal permit. Likewise, on April 9, the Environmental Protection Agency granted the final Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) air quality permit under the Clean Air Act for the aforementioned project, giving final approval for construction and operation. of the offshore wind farm of great magnitude.
“The permit stipulates requirements such as the Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permit program and the current requirements of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality that regulate airborne pollutants emitted during the construction and operation of the wind farm, as well as those of the ships used in the construction and maintenance of the project,” the EPA indicated.
Technical characteristics of wind technology

Dominion Energy is currently the sole owner of the project, although it is in the process of forming a 50:50 partnership with Stonepeak, a New York-based investment firm.
