Ocean Exploration Trust ( OET ) has selected LeeWay Marine to take over the management of its flagship research vessel, the E/V Nautilus. From 13 December 2024, the company will be responsible for the technical and operational management of the vessel, providing all maintenance, operations planning and technical support for the ship’s scheduled missions.
LeeWay Marine’s new responsibilities
Halifax, Nova Scotia-based maritime company LeeWay Marine has gained recognition for its expertise in vessel management and its ability to integrate advanced technology into its operations. Founded in 2015 by professionals with extensive naval experience, LeeWay has operated a fleet of vessels dedicated to collecting data at sea.
The E/V Nautilus , equipped with remotely operated vehicles ( ROVs ), has been a vital tool in advancing deep sea exploration. Through this collaboration, OET hopes to continue its educational missions, collaborating with scientists, educators, and students to make discoveries in the areas of biology, geology, and underwater archaeology.

The partnership also includes plans for continuous improvement of the ship and the integration of new technologies to ensure its operation in the most extreme ocean conditions.
LeeWay Marine has demonstrated its ability to expand its global presence, currently operating in six countries and focusing on technological innovation to meet the demands of the most complex maritime projects.
