Tesla continues to make headlines, this time with the construction of “Oasis,” an advanced charging station in Lost Hills, California. Oasis, which will be the largest Supercharger station in the world , is distinguished by its size and focus on sustainability .
A solar-powered supercharger station
The project will include 168 fast-charging stations to meet the growing demand of electric vehicles traveling between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Equipped with 11 MW of solar panels , this station not only charges cars but also produces its own energy . The panels are arranged both on the ground and on awnings that cover the charging areas, an innovation that allows for the optimization of space and provides protection for users.
Tesla has also added 10 Megapacks to the project, giving it a storage capacity of 39 MWh . This storage system allows the station to operate stably and without interruptions, even during periods of high demand. Megapacks ensure that vehicles can charge quickly, an essential feature for users who depend on fast and constant charging.
When will Oasis be operational?
By working with the local grid and using an innovative integration approach, Tesla avoids power issues . While Superchargers are typically connected to the grid , Oasis operates almost autonomously . This design helps overcome the area’s energy challenges while also making the station ready for future expansion beyond the 1.5 MW of grid service.
The site is expected to be fully operational by mid-2025 , offering drivers an innovative and sustainable charging experience, powered by solar energy and advanced storage technology.
