NASA has extended an invitation to the community to join activities and virtual events in anticipation of the launch of NOAA’s GOES-U satellite, part of the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite mission.

GOES-U liftoff is scheduled for a two-hour window beginning at 5:16 pm EDT on Tuesday, June 25. The satellite will be carried by a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center’s historic Launch Complex 39A in Florida.
The fourth and final satellite in the GOES-R series, NOAA’s GOES-U is intended to enhance early warning and weather prediction capabilities. In addition, this satellite will be important for the detection and monitoring of space weather related threats, thanks to the incorporation of a new compact coronagraph, an advanced instrument that instrument for observing and analyzing the solar corona. .
Interested members of the public have the opportunity to register to virtually attend this historic launch. Virtual attendees will receive exclusive access to selected resources, schedule updates and mission-specific details directly to their email. In addition, each virtual participant will receive a commemorative stamp for his or her virtual guest passport.
