Gwynt and Môr OFTO offshore wind farm
The facility is located off the coast of Wales, and has 160 wind turbines with an installed capacity of 576 MW. Since its entry into operation in 2013, it has established itself as one of the largest offshore projects in Europe.
On behalf of GYM OFTO, N-Sea will replace a 5 km stretch of cable between the onshore transition junction bay and the offshore platform. This project involves complex operations such as installation of the new cable by horizontal directional drilling under a railway track, shore access dredging, splicing, integrity testing and subsequent burial of the cable.
N-Sea’s CURO vessel, equipped with an eight-point mooring system and beaching capability, will lead the operations. These features allow it to work efficiently in high tide and shallow water areas, which are predominant conditions in the Gwynt and Môr landfall area.
This is not the first time that GYM OFTO has relied on N-Sea for submarine cable repairs. In fact, this will be the third intervention carried out for this client.
