China’s Chang’e 7 mission is part of a lunar exploration program, which will focus on the Moon’s south pole in mid-2026. This project includes six scientific payloads, coming from different countries, highlighting the global interest in lunar research.

The purpose of the study of the lunar south pole

The mission will deploy an orbiter, a lander and a mobile probe that will work together to study various aspects of the lunar south pole. This will allow for breadth in data collection.

The Chang’e 7 probe will include advanced instruments such as cameras, radars, mineral and water analyzers, spectrometers and magnetometers, which will provide valuable data on the morphology, composition and internal structure of the Moon.
