Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina; The cities of the state of Nuevo León in Mexico and Bogotá in Colombia have projects based on blockchain to modernize the public sector, combat bureaucracy and promote business innovation.

The three proposals were presented at Devcon, the annual Ethereum developer conference held in Colombia. The final objective that everyone considers is to make the operation of the public sector more efficient, allowing the local population to recover the lost trust, the interest in participating and the control of their personal data.

In Mexico, they are working to introduce a law in the Congress of Nuevo León that allows the creation of a decentralized digital entity. This, with the aim of curbing “corruption, bureaucracy and making life easier for people.”

For its part, Buenos Aires develops a self-sovereign digital identity protocol supported by three principles that were considered essential. The first is that the government cannot be the owner, second, that it had to be multichain or compatible with multiple blockchains, and third, it had to be 100% non-custodial. The first tests will begin in December. Then, starting in January 2023, the data of thousands of users will be uploaded to the platform every month, with the idea of ending that same year with millions of digital identities created.

While, for Colombia, the Bogotá Blockchain Project was presented, through which the city government has selected some 200 companies with which it works to encourage innovation and offer various solutions to communities.
