The mining company Guanajuato Silver Company Ltd. reported a 22 percent increase in its production of precious metals in the second quarter of the year compared to the first quarter. This is thanks to the high demand for silver globally. This makes it one of the fastest growing mining companies in Mexico.

The key to this high demand for silver is that this metal is a critical component in photovoltaic cells that produce solar energy. This is in addition to the fact that Mexico produces more silver than any other country in the world.

Thanks to this, the company reported a production of 155,912 ounces of silver and 2,161 ounces of gold for 337,760 ounces of silver equivalent. This in its facilities of the El Cubo complex and the El Pingüico project, in the period April-June 2022.

In his report, he announces that 94 thousand 212 tons were ground in El Cubo. This complex has abundant capacity available to process mineralized material from the San Ignacio y Valenciana mining complex. This was recently acquired from the Canadian firm Great Panther.

The executive director of Guanajuato Silver, James Anderson, predicted that silver production will play a relevant role worldwide due to the demand that there will be for this metal to make possible the so-called ‘green revolution’ to produce solar energy. For this reason, he warns that Mexico is called to benefit from the global transition towards environmental solutions.
