The world is moving towards digital transformation and although some companies have not yet followed this evolution, the world is moving towards concepts such as the Metaverse and the Third Generation Internet (Web 3.0). Expert points out that these trends may change society in the future.
“Technology transforms business and human relationships and there is something we can already observe: the construction of new realities and the migration of some companies to Web 3.0, based on 3D virtual reality, cryptocurrencies and technologies such as blockchain,” says Ticiana Pereira, innovation specialist and Startse business partner.
Understanding what these transformations mean, what their impact on society is and how to apply them to companies and other segments is fundamental.
The term Web 3.0 has been gaining relevance in the area of technology with the popularization of cryptocurrencies, virtual reality, the Metaverse and blockchain technology and, despite being a concept still under construction, there are already signs that strengthen the possibility of transition from Web 2.0 (which we use today) to Web 3.0, in an iconic transformation.
“Some factors are already pointing in that direction, such as the concept of decentralization, direct trust and a greater presence of Artificial Intelligence, and some companies such as Meta, Shopify, Amazon, Coinbase and Block (Square) are already exploring these possibilities,” says Ticiana, adding that “Web 3.0 represents an evolution, as it decentralizes the Web, today more focused on websites, systems and applications than on the user himself, and begins to converge several technologies such as: Blockchain, Machine Learning and AI, thus creating a great synergy and data intelligence”.
“It’s much more focused on data collection and decentralization, which will give companies access to valuable information about the behavior and preferences of their target audience. With that we move from a sea of documents to a sea of data,” he explains.
The Metaverse is a virtual universe, developed and accessed from different technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, social networks and games, which allows interaction between people through digital avatars.
“One of the platforms that is closest to the Metaverse concept and has been investing a lot in it is Fortnite. In it, people can interact with other players and create characters that actually inhabit that space. It’s a digital environment that connects the virtual world with real life, offering immersive experiences,” Ticiana explains.
Although it is just getting started, many people are already investing in the Metaverse, whether through cryptocurrencies, NFT investments or even the purchase of virtual land and houses. “This is an emerging economy that, according to the Citibank report, should reach a value between USD 8 billion and USD 13 billion by 2030. It is important that everyone starts to become familiar with these terms, because the future is now,” he concludes.
