The system, which is part of OPT’s Merrows™ ocean intelligence platform, has proven to be resilient in the face of adverse weather conditions, such as Hurricane Ernesto and Tropical Storm Debby. During the testing period, several demonstrations were conducted for potential customers in key areas such as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, highlighting the solution’s advanced technological capabilities.

In addition, the PowerBuoy system has returned to the OPT facility for an upgrade, which includes the integration of subsea connectors and a 5G system from AT&T. This step is key to the future installation of the system at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. OPT CEO Philipp Stratman emphasized that these developments underscore the reliability and robustness of its power solutions for demanding for demanding marine environments.
