CS WIND Offshore has completed the production of 40 XXL monopile foundations for the Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farm , a facility that will mark a breakthrough in clean energy generation in Germany. With a capacity of 913 MW, this will be the largest offshore wind farm in the country when operational, supplying green electricity to more than 900,000 households.
The Borkum wind farm, developed by Ørsted, represents an important step for the European energy industry . The completion of the manufacturing of these monopiles underlines the long-standing collaboration between CS WIND Offshore and Ørsted, two key companies in the drive towards sustainable energy sources.
XXL monopiles support clean energy in Germany
These XXL monopiles , which serve as foundations for wind turbines, are key elements in the infrastructure of offshore wind farms. With their imposing size and weight, they enable wind turbines to remain stable in adverse conditions offshore . Their manufacturing and deployment is a highly specialised process, and their production is a significant technical achievement.
The 913 MW capacity of Borkum Riffgrund 3 will enable significant CO₂ emissions reductions by replacing fossil energy sources with renewable energy. Furthermore, its commissioning is expected to be a major step forward for Germany in achieving its climate goals.
The next step for CS WIND Offshore is to continue with new offshore foundation projects . Following this success, the company continues to position itself as a leader in the supply of components for the wind industry, committed to the expansion of renewable energy globally.
