The blades for the Les Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) floating wind farm have been delivered to the wind power terminal in the port of Port-La Nouvelle, France. The FWN Arctic, designed to transport wind turbine components, unloaded the last sets of blades for the V164 turbines, manufactured by Vestas in Denmark.

EFGL floating wind farm stores 80-meter blades

These blades, measuring 80 metres and weighing 34 tonnes each , are being stored awaiting the arrival of the masts and nacelles in September. Once installed, the turbines will reach a height of 186 metres. The EFGL project, led by a consortium of Ocean Winds and Banque des Territoires, will be located more than 16 kilometres from the Mediterranean coast.

The contract with Euroports guarantees logistical support during construction at Port-La Nouvelle, including the assembly of the wind turbines on floating bases. The French operator RTE is already working on connecting the park to the national electricity grid.
