The second edition of the Virtual Seminar “Creating healthy soils from mining tailings and waste”, promoted by the Secretary of Geology, Mining and Mineral Transformation (SGM) of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) will be held today Tuesday 11 , from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and will be broadcast on the Brasil Mineral YouTube channel.

The seminar will discuss practical ways to transform tailings and waste piles into healthy soils, opening up opportunities for mining and increasing the sustainability of the sector. The issue is considered strategic by the MME, since it offers greater ease of rehabilitation of mining areas, greater physical, chemical and biological stability of geotechnical structures, in addition to new economic uses of the land destined for the activity.

In addition, it will highlight real cases of use of biosolids, mining applications, as well as regulations and data on volume, production process and use as fertilizers.

Representatives of the Brazilian Association of Metallurgy, Materials and Mining (ABM) and the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM), members of the Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo (SABESP) and Paraná (SANEPAR) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) will be giving the seminar.
