Iberdrola and Gres Panaria Portugal have formalised a long-term strategic agreement for the supply of photovoltaic energy . This agreement, which will begin in 2025, will ensure that the leading Portuguese company in the ceramic sector receives a total of 92 GWh of photovoltaic solar energy , contributing to the decarbonisation of its production and reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.

Photovoltaic energy and a sustainable future

The contract, known as a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), will ensure the supply of clean energy for the next 10 years , and will also allow Gres Panaria Portugal to significantly reduce its carbon footprint . The adoption of this renewable energy source will be key to strengthening the company’s competitiveness, while supporting both national and European climate objectives.

This agreement reflects our firm commitment to sustainability and the development of renewable energy, a strategic area in which Iberdrola is deeply involved. Through solar photovoltaic energy, we are not only offering a long-term energy solution, but also contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions in Portuguese industry.

This was stated by Rui Afonso, General Manager of Iberdrola Clients Portugal.

Boosting the green economy in Portugal

The agreement with Iberdrola is also part of Gres Panaria Portugal’s strategy to optimize its industrial processes and make them more sustainable. Benefits for industry and the environment

This agreement between Iberdrola and Gres Panaria Portugal has the potential to avoid the emission of thousands of tons of CO2, contributing to a greener economy. In addition, the Spanish energy company continues to expand its presence in the Portuguese market, where it already operates several photovoltaic and wind farms, and has invested in the largest hydroelectric project in the country: Tâmega .
