The roof, which is 150 cm high, integrates a solar kit that provides power to the internal accessories and recharges the electric bike, ensuring that you never run out of battery . Also, unlike folding bike campers, this vehicle features a fixed roof, rigid walls, and a door.
Although its internal height of 131 cm does not allow adults to stand upright, it is still an ideal solution to enjoy comfortable cycling trips with all the necessary comforts.
The end of the bed can be folded down to open a space that can be used as a work or relaxation area. The Hupi cabin also has a convertible sofa specially designed for the dimensions of the vehicle. When night falls, the bed unfolds to occupy the entire interior and receive the cyclist comfortably. Also, under the folded bed, there is a small table that creates the aforementioned eating corner.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Finnish Commercial Vehicle Center (FCVC), Hupi is now available on the market starting at €5,990 . It is also possible to add extras for greater comfort, such as a gas stove, a portable barbecue or a skylight.
How was Hupi born?
The idea for this invention was planted in the mind of Urpo “Upi” Merranmaa, a Finn who, although he did not consider himself a passionate cyclist, received an electric bicycle as a gift and decided to try it out on a multi-day getaway.
However, the prospect of spending the night in a sleeping bag on the ground did not sit well with his idea of adventure. It was then that the idea of creating your own custom bike trailer came up, with the goal of making your journeys more comfortable and fulfilling.
