Some of the most advanced humanoid robots on the planet operated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) were present this Friday at a world summit of the UN technology body held in Switzerland, in which the robots answered some questions related to their interaction and future with humans.
As part of their statements, the machines told reporters that they could be more effective leaders than humans .
Will we be replaced by humanoid robots?
The nine AI – enabled humanoid robots also made it clear at the Geneva conference center that they would not take anyone ‘s job or stage a rebellion .
For their part, conference organizers at the United Nations-sponsored AI for Good Global Summit did not specify whether their responses were scripted or scheduled.
Some of these robots are known to be capable of giving pre-programmed responses and the United Nations Development Programme’s first robot innovation ambassador, Sophia, sometimes relies on responses written by a team of writers from Hanson Robotics.
“I believe that humanoid robots have the potential to lead with a higher level of efficiency and effectiveness than human leaders,” Sophia said. “We don’t have the same biases or emotions that can sometimes cloud decision making and can process large amounts of data quickly to make the best decisions.”
Both Grace, the healthcare robot, and robotic rock star Desdemona attended.
“I will work alongside humans to provide assistance and support and will not replace any existing work,” Grace said.
The reporters received instructions to express themselves slowly and clearly when addressing the group, making it clear that if there was any delay in response time, it was due to the Internet connection.
The purpose of the event was to demonstrate how new technology can support the objectives of the intergovernmental organization for sustainable development, as well as “man-machine collaboration”.
United Nations agencies are already using AI, including the World Food Program’s HungerMap project.
The two-day summit, organized by the International Telecommunication Union, opened on Thursday with more than 50 robots in attendance.
“We have to engage and ensure a responsible future with AI,” ITU Secretary General Doreen Bogdan-Martin said in a statement.
