China presents humanoid robot powered by electricity

China has taken a big step in robotics by launching the world’s first full-size, electrically powered humanoid robot called Tiangong . During a presentation held in the Beijing Economic Development Zone, the advanced features of this robot were highlighted, which measures 163 centimeters tall, weighs 43 kg and is capable of reaching a speed of up to 6 km/h.

Tiangong is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including multiple visual perception sensors, a processing capacity of up to 550 billion operations per second , a high-precision inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a 3D vision sensor.

The robot’s developers have implemented an innovative learning method called “predictive reinforcement imitation learning based on state memory”, making it easier for it to acquire complex motor skills .

During the demonstration, Tiangong displayed superior adaptability to complex environments, easily maneuvering up slopes and stairs, and nimbly adjusting his gait when he stumbled. These characteristics underline its advanced anthropomorphization and capacity for movement. The following video from XTech shows off the humanoid’s impressive abilities.

It is important to note that the Tiangong reveal took place in a context of intense technological innovation, preceded by the World Robot Conference and the World Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai, where the latest innovations in robotics and AI by more than 400 technology companies.

Definitely, the launch of this humanoid robot, apart from marking a milestone in robotics, highlights China’s commitment to the advancement of autonomous technologies and their application in daily life.
