Gran Tierra Energy announced an operational and financial update with a cutoff at the end of the third quarter of 2022, where it indicates that it achieved an average production of approximately 30,391 barrels of oil per day (bopd), 5% more than a year ago.
For the fourth quarter of 2022, Gran Tierra forecasts total average production of approximately 32,000 bopd.
Regarding the exploratory activities, the production tests of the Gaitas-1 well, the planning of the Gaitas-2 well and the Rose-1 well, which was drilled and cased, stood out in Colombia.
For its part, in Ecuador, the exploration of the Bocachico-1 well stood out, with ongoing production tests and the company is currently drilling the Charapa Norte-1 well.
Gary Guidry, president and CEO of Gran Tierra, commented that, during the quarter, the Polymer Injection Project (EOR) began in the Acordionero field. This pilot injection test is a milestone after several years of laboratory and modeling that indicated the suitability of Acordionero for EOR.
Guidry concluded that, on the exploration front, they advanced several prospects during the quarter. “Our Gaitas-1 well in the Middle Magdalena Valley is currently in production and a second, deeper exploratory well in the field is being planned for the fourth quarter of 2022. In Ecuador, the Bocachico-1 exploratory well was cased and has started a reservoir testing program. In Colombia’s Putumayo Basin, our Rose-1 well showed encouraging results while drilling and is currently moving forward for testing.”
