The acronym STEAM includes the initials in English of the following disciplines: Science (Science), Technology (Technology), Engineering (Engineering), Art (Art) and Mathematics (Mathematics). STEAM education promotes collaborative work among students, in addition to providing empirical learning of these disciplines, students acquire skills for problem solving and analytical skills.
That is why various educational entities have begun to promote scientific-technological talent among young students, emerging various initiatives to motivate students and renew the educational system. Here are four examples:
Be TalentSTEAM is a collaborative platform created by the Altran Foundation for Innovation and the Excellence in Management Club that seeks to promote a transformation of the educational model, promote STEAM talent and improve the employability of young people.
Stem Talent Girl (STG) was created by the Asti Foundation in 2017 and is an educational project with the purpose of developing talent and promoting scientific-technological vocations in girls and adolescents. The work of their mentors is helping young women to pursue these professional careers.
Girls Who Code is a program developed in the United States and Canada, created to provide learning opportunities for female students to deepen their computer skills through various programs or by creating a supportive ‘sisterhood’ among role models, students and former students.
TechGirlz this organization’s mission is to try to inspire Secondary girls to explore the possibilities of technology. To do this, it promotes the TechShopz or ‘TechShopz in a box’ workshops, a kit that has all the plans, documents and procedures so that anyone, anywhere and with no knowledge can give the workshop.
