The DUS V5750 unmanned surface system (USV) developed by DEMCON Unmanned Systems has set a precedent in the Netherlands by obtaining DNV type approval under the international DNV Standard Craft (DNV-ST-0342). This recognition places DEMCON as the first USV manufacturer in the country to comply with this demanding certification.
USV Certification Process by DNV
The certification process presented significant challenges, as it required redundancy in all critical systems, including the power supply, within a compact design of just seven metres. This achievement underlines DEMCON’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable and sustainable solutions for the maritime sector.
With this certification, the DUS V5750 USV is ready to enter series production, marking a significant step forward in the commercialisation of unmanned vessels. The company also highlighted its collaboration with Van Oord to develop innovative maritime solutions that will contribute to the partially automated future of the sector.
Innovation in the maritime sector
This recognition also reinforces DEMCON’s position as an industry leader in advanced maritime technologies, opening up new opportunities for sustainable offshore projects. Type approval ensures that designs meet the highest international safety and quality standards, strengthening confidence in the solutions developed.
With this certification, DEMCON reaffirms its vision of transforming the maritime transport landscape through technological innovations and a determined commitment to sustainability.
